December 2022 Update: Merry Christmas! Happy New Year!

The Lord Provides

Tammy and I hope your celebration of the birth of our Savior was full of awe, wonder, and gratitude! We have been watching God do miracle after miracle for the past 6 months and now the need for an update can wait no longer. As we mentioned in our last letter, we needed to be out of our home at the end of November, but we have been able to extend that to the end of December. As some of you already know, we have purchased a house. Actually, more truthfully, we purchased 1/2 a house in the middle of September. Let’s back up and start at the beginning…

Our old home in Racine, WI.

Sadly, our landlord Gordon passed away in 2021. He was a wonderfully generous man who allowed us to rent our home for a very reasonable price (for 19+ years) so that we could do ministry in the area.  After his passing, his wife let us know in May of 2022 that she wanted to sell the home and gave us a 6-month notice to move, of which we are very grateful!  As we began looking for a place, we became very discouraged at what we saw in terms of homes for sale and their prices.

As we were praying and looking, our daughter Kellie and her husband David, told us they had been praying for the past year, and felt God telling them to sell their home and purchase something together with us, so we began to look at duplexes. When we saw what was listed in that arena, it was also very discouraging.

David & Kellie’s old home.

We told our realtor what we had in mind, and she sent us a listing for a home with a business attached that was way out of our price range. Even though it was out of our price range, she told us just to go look at it. As we walked through the home, God began to speak to Tammy’s heart that this was the place. She decided to write a letter to the owners of the home and shared with them our situation and what we do for a living and what David does (he is a pastor, free-lance photographer and has a business called KDM along with my brother Matt and our friend Kirby) and asked if they would be willing to come down in the price. They called us back 6 hrs after getting Tammy’s letter, and they dropped the price $55,000…we were blown away! Even still, the home was beyond what we could afford, but we felt the faith to keep stepping forward and trusting God and He provided! We closed on the new home on September 16th!

Our new house at 6015 60th Street Kenosha, WI 53144. Photo taken the day we closed on the home.

Since David and Kellie needed to be out of their home 2 days after closing, they moved into the home side with their two children Kaylee and Paul Lando. Our side was in need of bathrooms, bedrooms, and a kitchen to make it livable.  God began bringing generous people to help these things come to pass…providing large amounts of time, money, expertise, labor and love… Needless to say, it’s been a full-time job and a labor of love getting this place to a point where we can move in. Our kids were so excited to pick their own paint and help paint their rooms. However, we needed to build walls first, then put in electrical wiring, then drywall, tape, mud, flooring, etc. The work has been non-stop since we signed the papers!

Finally, our move-in process started December 17 since we figured we might not be able to get helping hands over the Christmas or New Years weekends.  Although we have so much still to do (there is only a half bath, and the kitchen and laundry areas are not hooked up to water and gas), we started the move. All of the appliances and furniture have been moved, and we have beds set up. We still do not have doors on the kids rooms, a working kitchen or finished bathrooms but this too will come to completion someday soon. We do have one working toilet for which we are extremely grateful, and David and Kellie are graciously sharing one of their bathrooms, their laundry facilities and their kitchen with us. It has been so amazing to see God’s provision in this process, it has truly been one miracle after another.  God’s hand is so clearly evident.

We of course want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who has helped us! From the prayers, to the financial support, to those who have helped carry boxes, beds, and appliances, to the men who helped us frame walls, drywall, run electrical, lay flooring, and run HVAC, we are so so grateful! Thank you, thank you!

Our new address is as follows: 6015 60th Street Kenosha, WI 53144. (This is also the NEW KINGDOM PARTNERS GLOBAL ADDRESS). So stop by and get the box tour (every room filled with boxes).  Pray for us as we try to bring order to the chaos.  Also, please pray for my body and healing.  My legs and hips have been compensating for my back, and now I have excruciating pain in my legs from all the work and have extreme difficulty sleeping as I can’t find a position that does not generate pain down my legs.

Feeding Africa

We are still helping families outside of Nairobi Kenya with meals.

Feeding Africa is still up and running as we continue to meet the needs of families who cannot meet those needs themselves. We are continuing to help feed 1,000 people in Kenya who do not have the means to adequately feed their families due to the lasting effects of the pandemic, global food crisis, and inflation. As you may recall, we passed the one-millionth-meal milestone in May. As of January 1, 2023, we will have spent $137,070 and served 1,235,960 meals. It continues to boggle my mind as to what a difference a small group of us can make.

As we look to close out the year, we are in a critical spot…we are $9,235 in the red for Feeding Africa. If God is touching your heart to help meet this need, your financial help would be much appreciated. Please click the Donate to Feeding Africa button at the bottom of this update. It has truly been amazing how we can come together and make an impact and change peoples lives doing what the scriptures call us to do as Christians in this world, being the hands and feet of Jesus.

“Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink?’… And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these, my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’”

— Matthew 25:37&40 NLT

If God is not calling you to give to Feeding Africa, that is totally fine, just give to where He is calling you to give.  He has not blessed us with an abundance just so we can squander it on ourselves, but so that we can be a shining light in a fallen world, especially in times like these.

Sifa Bwana Project - (means “Praise the Lord” in Swahili)

We continue to work on helping to make our feeding programs become a bit more sustainable.  We are in the process of helping our Nairobi feeding program acquire a piece of property to grow vegetables that will supplement food they hand out as well as beginning to raise chickens.  We have currently paid for half the property, built a chicken coop and purchased four chickens who have already hatched 6 baby chicks!  It’s a small start, but we are hopeful.  If you feel that you can financially help us with the Sifa Bwana project, please contact me at roger@kingdompg.org and let me know.

Family

Our son, John, his wife, Marie and their son, Elijah

Our Son, David, and his wife, Amy visiting the gravesite of their son, John Samuel on Christmas Day.

On the home front, John, Marie, and Elijah are moving back to the area January 8th, and will be looking to settle here for awhile.  It has been 10 years since John left Wisconsin to help with a church plant in England, and so much has changed since then.  It will be great to have them so close and to be able to see them without spending a $1,000+ to fly over the pond! Koral, Divan, and Joel will also be visiting in January — so we will be celebrating a late Myers’ family Christmas.  We haven’t all been together since Koral’s wedding so there is a lot of excitement going on at the Myers’ house.

As many of you know, David and Amy’s son, John Samuel, arrived in March at only 18.5 weeks gestation and is with Jesus. While they have had huge faith in it all and are clinging to Jesus, it has been a very difficult season. Please pray for the Lord to bring them comfort and for a miracle for them to conceive again!

City-Wide Prayer

As we move into the new year, I am looking to try something a little different. Instead of just praying with church leaders, I am starting a city-wide prayer night once a month, open to anyone in the city who wants to pray for Kenosha and the surrounding area.  We will meet the second Monday of the month @ 7:00 pm at One Voice Church and pray for our city, church, and community.  My tag line is, “Give God a year, and see what He can do.” I’m really excited! I have no idea how many people will show up for the prayer nights, but God says that where two or more are gathered in His name, He is there in our midst. I would greatly appreciate your prayers as we implement the prayer nights.

Thank You

Thanks to all of you who have supported us over this last year (some of you for the last 28 years!!) both prayerfully and financially.

If God is moving you to partner with us on a monthly or regular basis as we work to bring His kingdom to earth in both Kenosha and across the ocean, please click the donation link below.

Everything that is given to FEEDING AFRICA goes 100% to the two feeding programs. What is given to SIFA BWANA goes 100% to the farm project outside Nairobi. What is given to the GENERAL FUND goes to pay our salary, overhead expenses, and to supplement the other programs when not enough money comes in for those. In other words, we can take from the General Fund to feed people, but we never take from the other funds to pay our salary. We appreciate your generosity and feel blessed to be able to represent you in the Kingdom work.

If you are giving by check, please send your check to the address listed below; do not put our name on the check, but make checks payable to Kingdom Partners Global. All checks will go towards our personal support unless stated otherwise. You will receive a receipt for tax purposes. Thank you so much for being a part of the ministry with us.

July 2022 Update: One Million!

Feeding Africa

Two of the children in our feeding program outside of Nairobi, Kenya

This is a FANTASTIC time for an update as we have “served up” a Million meals in our feeding Africa program! That is so wild to me that God would be using you and us to help sustain these people in such an amazing way!

1 Corinthians 1:27 Says “Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful.”

A lady in our feeding program preparing a meal

It took 2 years and 24 days to achieve, but we have finally reached that ONE MILLION milestone on May 14, 2022.  As of June 25th we have invested $116,145 and provided 1,046,960 meals! We never could have done this without people like you investing your money and prayers into this project!  We just want to say thank you so much for helping to feed these wonderful families.

We have told God that we would continue this feeding program as long as there is a need and/or as long as He provides the money. If you feel led to give, please click the Donate to Feeding Africa button at the bottom of this update, and help to be the hands and feet of Jesus to these hungry families. With the rising costs of food, fuel, and transportation these past few months, it is getting harder and harder on these families to provide food for everyone. Your $10 donation…the cost of one fast-food meal…can feed a person in Africa for a month. Your gift is appreciated so very much!  Remember 100% of money given for Feeding Africa goes to feeding people in Africa…we keep none of it.

SIFA BWANA - (means “Praise the Lord” in Swahili)

As we strive to continue to meet these food needs, we have been praying about ways to make this program more self-sustainable. We have begun to pursue one of these avenues. Our friends who run the feeding program in Kijabe, Kenya, have a Shamba (farm/garden plot) from which they have used the produce to supplement the rice, beans, flour, oil, etc. they are able to hand out to the families in that feeding program. However, the feeding program in Nairobi has nothing like that.

The man who heard about our feeding program and wanted to help by selling this land at half the value and allowing Nifah to begin farming it before it’s even all paid for.

Several months ago, a gentleman approached Nifah and offered to sell her a plot of land for a greatly reduced price because of the ministry she was doing. This would provide an area where chickens would be able to be raised and vegetables grown to supplement the program.  Although the price to Nifah is unattainable, it seemed very reasonable and obtainable to us.  The cost for the land is $9,000.00 (it is worth twice that), and the Landlord said that Nifah could begin using the land after she paid the $4,000.00 down payment.

The land outside of Nairobi we are helping Nifah purchase to build a farm

Tammy and I felt the Lord’s leading in this, and we have made the $4,000.00 down-payment from our tax return. There is another $2,500.00 needed for fencing and structures to get this land to a place where it can be used. We are trusting God that He will provide the rest; that He will speak to some of you about the remaining $7,500.00. There is also still a need for a structure at the farm in Kijabe…Nairobi and Kijabe are an hour’s drive from each other.

James 4:2b-3 says “Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it. And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure.”

So we are asking in faith, please join us in asking God for this provision for His children in Kenya! It’s amazing how much further our money goes in Kenya, and how much more of an impact we can have there. So please ask God if He would have you give toward this project. If so please contact me directly at roger@kingdompg.org, and let me know you are interested in the, “Sifa Bwana” project.

TRAVEL

Youth Group at Living Light Church in Taunton

May 5-19 had me back in the skies again. It was my first international flight since the outbreak of the pandemic. I was scheduled to attend the “Naturally Supernatural” conference in Watford, England, with several other pastors. Since I was planning on going to the conference, a friend of mine asked me if I would also be willing to come speak in the Living Light Church he is an Elder in, which is also the church that our son John went over to England to help plant (get started), and I joyfully said, “YES!” Then John also asked me to speak to the youth group about how I had smuggled Bibles and learned to trust God. So I said yes to that as well.

Time with family in England (from left: Maria, John, Roger, Koral, & Divan)

I was very much looking forward to seeing my grandson Elijah, (John and Marie’s baby) who had already turned 1, and I had not yet met. Of course, also the joy of seeing John & Marie and Divan & Koral. So when the conference fell through, Tammy and I felt that I should still go. I was able to do all those things and more. I was able to be used by God to bring words of encouragement and healing to many.  I was also able to meet with and pray with a group of pastors from various churches across Wellington, very similar to Kenosha Allies. The two weeks were crammed with Family and Ministry…it was truly amazing! I also caught up on my Fish & Chips quota. Maybe I should just say it was two weeks of Family, Faith and Fish (and Chips) if this were a three point sermon!

One Voice Church

This is the new location our church, One Voice, is meeting at

The new Church plant in Kenosha that we are now attending is doing well. We are looking to install Elders soon which is very exiting in terms of moving forward and being able to do more ministry in the community. We have moved into a new location, so we now have a bigger meeting room and space allowing us room to do children's ministry and more. Attendance has been up with 99 for Easter and 92 the week after. The higher numbers have created a wonderful atmosphere for worshiping on a Sunday morning which has been great.

I, Roger, gave the sermon on a Sunday morning a few weeks ago at One Voice. I shared a bit of our testimony of God’s provision in our lives and what we’re doing in our Feeding Africa program. I titled the sermon “Roger the Idiot” because God often uses the foolish things of the world to accomplish his purposes and I have definitely been a fool God has used. Click play on the video to watch it!

All in all, the work is pressing forward, and we are excited for the impact One Voice is going to have on the city of Kenosha.

FAMILY

Our home for the past almost 20 years which we have to move out of by November 30th of 2022.

Things are getting shaken up at the Myers’ house. We received a letter from a lawyer telling us we need to be out of the house that we have lived in for almost 20 years by November 30th. This current home has been such a blessing, and we praise God for providing us with an amazing place to stay that has allowed us to do ministry in Kenosha all these years! Our landlord, Gordon, has been a very kind and generous man! He is now with the Lord and the home will be sold for more than we can afford.

As most of you know, this is the absolute worse time to try to purchase a house, not to mention the fact that we have never owned a home (every home except for this one came with the ministry we were doing at the time), so we have no equity to apply towards a down payment. Once again, we are trusting for God’s provision to take care of us. Please be praying for Favor as we look for a new place to live.

MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION

It has been awhile since we have done an updated Newsletter, and for that we apologize! Due to that, This one seems chock full of needs for money which sound very overwhelming! We know that God sorts these things out in His creative ways, and yet He asks us to get the word out! Some have asked why we gave $4,000 to buy land in Africa when we need thousands to put down on a home in America. Good question!

First, we did not know we were going to be asked to leave this home when we made that decision, and yet, to be honest, we would still have done it because we have learned the hard way that obedience to God ALWAYS goes much better for everyone involved than disobedience does! Second, we have also learned that we cannot out-give God! So here we are prayerfully asking if any of you out there have felt God’s nudge to give towards any of these needs…Thank you richly!

Thank You

Thank you so much for your partnership and support. We are truly blessed by each of you.

We are looking for more people to partner with us, both in praying for us and giving financially. Please pray and ask God if He would have you join us or if there’s someone He would have you send this newsletter to.
